SHOPPING

Liverpool shopping is world class, which is only fitting for a city that can shop till it drops. Shoppers are spoilt for choice between gleaming new city-centre shopping centres to boutique arcades, bohemian streets and farmers markets.

Liverpool ONE, right in the heart of the city, is the shiny new designer Liverpool shopping centre that is home to more than 160 famous high street names, from John Lewis to Apple, Topshop to Cath Kidston.

Then there is the exclusive Metquarter, where you will find more select fashion and beauty outlets such as Jo Malone, Molton Brown and MAC. For the boys there is Gieves & Hawkes and Tommy Hilfiger.

But Liverpool shopping also has the ultra-fashionable Cavern Walks, home to Vivienne Westwood and WAGS favourite Cricket, which sells impossibly expensive handbags and designer clobber. Lark Lane is also a groovy destination full of bohemian boutiques and street markets.

Shopping in the Liverpool City Region, outside the city centre, has much to offer too. There is Lord Street in Southport, an elegant parade of Victorian arcades with a whole host of smart shops and boutiques, while the Wirral has various farm shops bulging with lots of delicious local produce.

FOOD AND DRINK

Liverpool has every kind of restaurant, from sleek fine dining to independent bistros and high street favourites, and it can tick just about every box in terms of international cuisine, ranging from top Indians to spicy Thais.

Head to 60 Hope Street for classic, gourmet dishes and sample its signature dessert – a deep fried jam sandwich with Carnation milk ice cream.

Or go up the road to the Everyman Bistro for a wholesome, delicious selection of fresh salads, hot dishes and soups all day long.

You can enjoy finest hand-crafted food, a delectable Classic Champagne Cocktail and breath-taking 360° views across the city and over to the Wirral Peninsula from Panoramic, on the 34th floor of West Tower (don’t miss out on Hervé’s belt-tightening cheese trolley). Or go and feast on modern international food at London Carriage Works at Hope Street Hotel, popular with the city’s gastronomes.

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

Comedy Club

Liverpool is famous for its comedy, and Liverpudlians love to make you laugh.

Check out the hilarious Laughterhouse comedy nights at The Slaughterhouse on Fenwick Street, one of Liverpool’s premier comedy clubs, or the Laughterhouse at Lenny’s Bar and Smoke Grill on Fridays and Saturdays. You can get great food and drinks there too, as well as enjoy some of Liverpool nightlife’s most entertaining offerings.  www.laughterhousecomedy.com/

The Blue Bar and Grill at the Albert Dock has top Comedy Central nights throughout the year on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Not far away is also the huge Liverpool comedy venue that is the Echo Arena Liverpool, which has played host to the Mighty Boosh, John Bishop, Russell Howard and Peter Kay.

The bar is a great spot for seeing up and coming Liverpool comedy acts and is one of the venues for the annual Liverpool Comedy Festival which takes place every May.

Tips for planning a Cocktail Making Party

Have you decided that you would like to organise a cocktail making hen party? If so, what an exciting event to plan!!! With that said, it is important for you to start your planning now! To help you get started with doing so, a few important and helpful tips are highlighted below.

Create a guest list for your cocktail making hen party

The first step in planning a hen party is to create a guest list. This is very important. When you call around or use the internet to examine event companies and hen party agencies that offer private parties, you need to have an ideal total of guests. As previously stated, this is important, as some cocktail making classes have restrictions on the number of guests they are able to accommodate.

Before sending out your hen party invitations, it is important that you decide on a location. If you end up changing the party information, it may lessen the chances of your guests showing up. Once you have chosen the location and date you can send the girls party invitations.

Research and  book your party

As for selecting the day and location to have your private party, you will first want to examine all of your options. You can do this by using online business directories, a standard internet search, or your local phone book. Contact the hen party agencies and inquire about private parties. Next, determine the number of guests that they are able to accommodate. Contact the other participants with the offer and make the reservation! You don’t want to miss out on great offers and your preferred time slot!

The Cocktail Making class is fun, relaxed and whilst you’re shaking the ice, you get to break the ice. Whilst you’re being shown the tricks of the trade, you can chat about what you’re learning and encourage each other as you make your exotic drinks! Bonding as a group is very important on a hen party and often organisers can feel nervous about getting the group to gel, especially if not everyone knows each other. A focused activity takes the pressure off forced socialising and allows the girls to mingle with ease.

Enquire now for your cocktail making class today at SpicyHen.co.uk!

Learn A Wedding Dance With Your Hens

Be part of the new craze – forget the Bride & Groom’s wedding Dance – this is the ultimate way to wow everyone on the big day!

Book a fun dance activity on your Hen Weekend and the trained choreographer will create an easy to learn dependable routine dependant on your experience and ability. Choose your song and learn a dance choreography with your hens and then perform it live at your wedding! Choose your dance lesson NOW!

Dance tips and advice:

  • Select a song that is not too long! A Song between Two to Three minutes long is best.Songs longer that that may get boring for your guests.
  • Practice your dance routine with the girls! Regular practice is the only way to get comfortable with the steps and with dancing together with your girls. Plan to practice…. at least three 20 minute sessions a week.
  • What size is your dance floor ? Find out what size your reception dance floor is and try to practice your dance using the same approximate space at home with the girls.
  • Plan when will the dance happen? Will it be at the beginning of the reception or after dinner?
  • Inform you team! Tell your Band , DJ and Photographer, when you plan to do your surprise dance.  To be sure of getting great pictures of your dance, tell your photographer when you plan to start your dance routine and if possible demonstrate which dance moves you’d like them to capture…especially important is the dip at the end of your dance.

How to throw a great hen’s night

There are several scenes in one of this year’s hit movies, Bridesmaids, where maid of honour Annie argues with wannabe chief bridesmaid Helen about the hen’s party.

Annie suggests a Parisian-themed weekend away at a lake house, but her ideas are dismissed by the dreadful Helen who is determined to throw bride-to-be Lillian the best and most elaborate hen party of all time.

While I haven’t been to a hen’s party like the one in the film, where guests are escorted in on horseback and given puppies to take home as party favours, I’ve been to a fair few over the years, including Sex and the City style hen party, Latin themed hen weekend and crazy Fitness style hen party, and have noticed they’re getting increasingly ludicrous as each chief bridesmaid tries to out-do the last.

So ladies, if you are in charge of organising a hen party, bare it in mind, you are organising it for the bride-to-be and not for the other girls to be jealous! Here are our simple tips to follow in order to organise a successful Hen Night!

Spicy Hen’s Hen’s Night party tips:

1. Don’t humiliate the Hen. Make sure that what you do for her is within her comfort level and make sure you spoil her throughout the night.

2. Add a little cheek to the evening, whether that be having Buff waiters serving food and drinks or through accessories that the Hen and guests can wear during the party.

3. Ensure there is plenty of food to go around during the course of the evening.

4. If you’re moving between venues make sure transport is organised and on time.

5. Provide a little memento for each guest at the end of the night to remind them of the Hens night. It’s also always a nice idea to have a theme as well, for example all wear the colour pink for the evening so you stand out from the crowd at a public venue.

6. Remind the Hen that it’s her last night of freedom so make sure she has fun (within reason of course).

7. Know the name of the Groom but don’t call him or his groomsmen during the night.

8. Remember not everyone will be in the same spirit as the Hen so try and have activities and games on standby that everyone will enjoy.

9. If you’re all heading to a club or bar ensure that they know a big group is arriving so you can avoid queuing up.

10. Not everyone will know each other so get the girls to mingle. Party games are a great wayto break the ice or asking how each person knows the Hen can get people talking.

11. Be prepared to join in or host the games such as being the quizmaster for “Mr and Mrs”.

12. If the party is at home keep the room organised – clear empty glasses and plates and keep the kitchen and drinks area organised and tidy.

13. Make sure you book your hen party activities in advance!

Have fun!!!!!!

Hen Nigh Ideas to make sure you are the centre of attention!

It’s very exciting for someone who is about to be getting married, this transition period brings in anxiousness, joy and as well comes with lot of excitement for the women who is about to tie the knot. This is the perfect time for planning a hen party and it’s time to come up with some great hen night ideas!

Create a hen party theme

One great classy hen party idea is to set a particular theme for the event. This would anything from having a vintage look, or all getting dressed up like any of the famous Hollywood stars portraying exceeding beauty. Dressing up like this would mean that the girls would remain at the centre of attention of everyone especially around London, Brighton or Cardiff where there are lots of tourists! As well not to forget, it would turn the event into one of the best ones for sure.

HEN PARTY MAKEUP & PAMPERING

Another great hen party idea is to have your make up and hair professionally done for the night, it’s not every day that you’ll be with so many friends letting your hair down and dressing up so why not make the most of it? Particually if you’re going with a hen party theme you’re going to want makeup that will also last for the duration of that dancing and partying. You can bet they’ll be lots of cameras at your hen party so even more reason to look your absolute best!
